Cornwall is God's Country

One of the more genuine experiences of our trip was the weekend that we spent in the English countryside in Cornwall County.  We tagged along with our friends Debs and Glenn on a visit to see their good friends, Debbie and John.  Debbie and John have a beautiful 400 year old home out in the country with chickens, ducks, dogs and gardens.  It was a riot from the get-go.  We arrived Friday evening and Debbie and John had a fire and drinks waiting for us.  We had a delicious meal and stayed up late talking and laughing.

Debs and Glenn took us out to Vault Bay the following morning.  Here is a nice estate that overlooks the bay.

This is their view.  It was breathtaking.

We took the family dogs with us to the beach. Here is Debs, Rich and Glenn descending from the hills down to the bay which leads to the Atlantic Ocean.

Stan (yellow lab) and his mom, Rosie (black lab) have a wonderful time playing together at the beach.

The Cornish pasty is a popular English snack.  Kelly enjoys her cheese and onion pasty while Rich chows down on a large Cornish pasty.

John had invited friends to come to the St. Austell Brewery Celtic Beer Festival.  The festival was a success with crowds people enjoying good beer and good Celtic music.

Debs, Rich, Glenn, John and John (our host) share a few laughs and St. Austell beer.

Back at the homestead, Rich, Debs and Glenn relax by the fire.  This fireplace used to be the oven for the home's inhabitants hundreds of years ago.

We had a wonderful Saturday night.  John and Debbie made a wonderful Cornish meal for ten, and we ate, drank and laughed at John's hilarious stories all night long.  The last one to bed was John at 5:00 am.

Debbie cooks us a huge English breakfast the following morning:  Scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, toast, roasted tomatoes, mushrooms, coffee, tea and juice.

John and John have known each other since medical school.  Their friendship becomes apparent when they tell stories and joke with one another.

Debbie and John's wife, Penny also go way back.  They too were a fun loving, jovial pair.

We cannot thank John and Debbie enough for welcoming us into their home and treating us like we were family.  We also cannot thank Debs and Glenn enough for also treating us like family and bringing us along with them for a great weekend.

Our weekend in Cornwall reminds us of our families and friends back home.  It will be nice to get back home and have more good times with them.
